- 1
لَآأُقْسِمُبِيَوْمِٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ١
ENI swear by the Day of Resurrection
- 2
وَلَآأُقْسِمُبِٱلنَّفْسِٱللَّوَّامَةِ٢
ENAnd I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection].
- 3
أَيَحْسَبُٱلْإِنسَـٰنُأَلَّننَّجْمَعَعِظَامَهُۥ٣
ENDoes man think that We will not assemble his bones?
- 4
بَلَىٰقَـٰدِرِينَعَلَىٰٓأَننُّسَوِّىَبَنَانَهُۥ٤
ENYes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.
- 5
بَلْيُرِيدُٱلْإِنسَـٰنُلِيَفْجُرَأَمَامَهُۥ٥
ENBut man desires to continue in sin.
- 6
يَسْـَٔلُأَيَّانَيَوْمُٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ٦
ENHe asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"
- 7
فَإِذَابَرِقَٱلْبَصَرُ٧
ENSo when vision is dazzled
- 8
وَخَسَفَٱلْقَمَرُ٨
ENAnd the moon darkens
- 9
وَجُمِعَٱلشَّمْسُوَٱلْقَمَرُ٩
ENAnd the sun and the moon are joined,
- 10
يَقُولُٱلْإِنسَـٰنُيَوْمَئِذٍأَيْنَٱلْمَفَرُّ١٠
ENMan will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?"
- 11
كَلَّالَاوَزَرَ١١
ENNo! There is no refuge.
- 12
إِلَىٰرَبِّكَيَوْمَئِذٍٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ١٢
ENTo your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.
- 13
يُنَبَّؤُا۟ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُيَوْمَئِذٍۭبِمَاقَدَّمَوَأَخَّرَ١٣
ENMan will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back.
- 14
بَلِٱلْإِنسَـٰنُعَلَىٰنَفْسِهِۦبَصِيرَةٌۭ١٤
ENRather, man, against himself, will be a witness,
- 15
وَلَوْأَلْقَىٰمَعَاذِيرَهُۥ١٥
ENEven if he presents his excuses.
- 16
لَاتُحَرِّكْبِهِۦلِسَانَكَلِتَعْجَلَبِهِۦٓ١٦
ENMove not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an.
- 17
إِنَّعَلَيْنَاجَمْعَهُۥوَقُرْءَانَهُۥ١٧
ENIndeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.
- 18
فَإِذَاقَرَأْنَـٰهُفَٱتَّبِعْقُرْءَانَهُۥ١٨
ENSo when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.
- 19
ثُمَّإِنَّعَلَيْنَابَيَانَهُۥ١٩
ENThen upon Us is its clarification [to you].
- 20
كَلَّابَلْتُحِبُّونَٱلْعَاجِلَةَ٢٠
ENNo! But you love the immediate
- 21
وَتَذَرُونَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ٢١
ENAnd leave the Hereafter.
- 22
وُجُوهٌۭيَوْمَئِذٍۢنَّاضِرَةٌ٢٢
EN[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,
- 23
إِلَىٰرَبِّهَانَاظِرَةٌۭ٢٣
ENLooking at their Lord.
- 24
وَوُجُوهٌۭيَوْمَئِذٍۭبَاسِرَةٌۭ٢٤
ENAnd [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,
- 25
تَظُنُّأَنيُفْعَلَبِهَافَاقِرَةٌۭ٢٥
ENExpecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.
- 26
كَلَّآإِذَابَلَغَتِٱلتَّرَاقِىَ٢٦
ENNo! When the soul has reached the collar bones
- 27
وَقِيلَمَنْ ۜرَاقٍۢ٢٧
ENAnd it is said, "Who will cure [him]?"
- 28
وَظَنَّأَنَّهُٱلْفِرَاقُ٢٨
ENAnd the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation
- 29
وَٱلْتَفَّتِٱلسَّاقُبِٱلسَّاقِ٢٩
ENAnd the leg is wound about the leg,
- 30
إِلَىٰرَبِّكَيَوْمَئِذٍٱلْمَسَاقُ٣٠
ENTo your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.
- 31
فَلَاصَدَّقَوَلَاصَلَّىٰ٣١
ENAnd the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed.
- 32
وَلَـٰكِنكَذَّبَوَتَوَلَّىٰ٣٢
ENBut [instead], he denied and turned away.
- 33
ثُمَّذَهَبَإِلَىٰٓأَهْلِهِۦيَتَمَطَّىٰٓ٣٣
ENAnd then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].
- 34
أَوْلَىٰلَكَفَأَوْلَىٰ٣٤
ENWoe to you, and woe!
- 35
ثُمَّأَوْلَىٰلَكَفَأَوْلَىٰٓ٣٥
ENThen woe to you, and woe!
- 36
أَيَحْسَبُٱلْإِنسَـٰنُأَنيُتْرَكَسُدًى٣٦
ENDoes man think that he will be left neglected?
- 37
أَلَمْيَكُنُطْفَةًۭمِّنمَّنِىٍّۢيُمْنَىٰ٣٧
ENHad he not been a sperm from semen emitted?
- 38
ثُمَّكَانَعَلَقَةًۭفَخَلَقَفَسَوَّىٰ٣٨
ENThen he was a clinging clot, and [Allah] created [his form] and proportioned [him]
- 39
فَجَعَلَمِنْهُٱلزَّوْجَيْنِٱلذَّكَرَوَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ٣٩
ENAnd made of him two mates, the male and the female.
- 40
أَلَيْسَذَٰلِكَبِقَـٰدِرٍعَلَىٰٓأَنيُحْـِۧىَٱلْمَوْتَىٰ٤٠
ENIs not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?
