- 1
وَٱلْفَجْرِ١
ENBy the dawn
- 2
وَلَيَالٍعَشْرٍۢ٢
ENAnd [by] ten nights
- 3
وَٱلشَّفْعِوَٱلْوَتْرِ٣
ENAnd [by] the even [number] and the odd
- 4
وَٱلَّيْلِإِذَايَسْرِ٤
ENAnd [by] the night when it passes,
- 5
هَلْفِىذَٰلِكَقَسَمٌۭلِّذِىحِجْرٍ٥
ENIs there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?
- 6
أَلَمْتَرَكَيْفَفَعَلَرَبُّكَبِعَادٍ٦
ENHave you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -
- 7
إِرَمَذَاتِٱلْعِمَادِ٧
EN[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,
- 8
ٱلَّتِىلَمْيُخْلَقْمِثْلُهَافِىٱلْبِلَـٰدِ٨
ENThe likes of whom had never been created in the land?
- 9
وَثَمُودَٱلَّذِينَجَابُوا۟ٱلصَّخْرَبِٱلْوَادِ٩
ENAnd [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?
- 10
وَفِرْعَوْنَذِىٱلْأَوْتَادِ١٠
ENAnd [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -
- 11
ٱلَّذِينَطَغَوْا۟فِىٱلْبِلَـٰدِ١١
EN[All of] whom oppressed within the lands
- 12
فَأَكْثَرُوا۟فِيهَاٱلْفَسَادَ١٢
ENAnd increased therein the corruption.
- 13
فَصَبَّعَلَيْهِمْرَبُّكَسَوْطَعَذَابٍ١٣
ENSo your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.
- 14
إِنَّرَبَّكَلَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ١٤
ENIndeed, your Lord is in observation.
- 15
فَأَمَّاٱلْإِنسَـٰنُإِذَامَاٱبْتَلَىٰهُرَبُّهُۥفَأَكْرَمَهُۥوَنَعَّمَهُۥفَيَقُولُرَبِّىٓأَكْرَمَنِ١٥
ENAnd as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."
- 16
وَأَمَّآإِذَامَاٱبْتَلَىٰهُفَقَدَرَعَلَيْهِرِزْقَهُۥفَيَقُولُرَبِّىٓأَهَـٰنَنِ١٦
ENBut when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."
- 17
كَلَّا ۖبَللَّاتُكْرِمُونَٱلْيَتِيمَ١٧
ENNo! But you do not honor the orphan
- 18
وَلَاتَحَـٰٓضُّونَعَلَىٰطَعَامِٱلْمِسْكِينِ١٨
ENAnd you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.
- 19
وَتَأْكُلُونَٱلتُّرَاثَأَكْلًۭالَّمًّۭا١٩
ENAnd you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,
- 20
وَتُحِبُّونَٱلْمَالَحُبًّۭاجَمًّۭا٢٠
ENAnd you love wealth with immense love.
- 21
كَلَّآإِذَادُكَّتِٱلْأَرْضُدَكًّۭادَكًّۭا٢١
ENNo! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -
- 22
وَجَآءَرَبُّكَوَٱلْمَلَكُصَفًّۭاصَفًّۭا٢٢
ENAnd your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,
- 23
وَجِا۟ىٓءَيَوْمَئِذٍۭبِجَهَنَّمَ ۚيَوْمَئِذٍۢيَتَذَكَّرُٱلْإِنسَـٰنُوَأَنَّىٰلَهُٱلذِّكْرَىٰ٢٣
ENAnd brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?
- 24
يَقُولُيَـٰلَيْتَنِىقَدَّمْتُلِحَيَاتِى٢٤
ENHe will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."
- 25
فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢلَّايُعَذِّبُعَذَابَهُۥٓأَحَدٌۭ٢٥
ENSo on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,
- 26
وَلَايُوثِقُوَثَاقَهُۥٓأَحَدٌۭ٢٦
ENAnd none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].
- 27
يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَاٱلنَّفْسُٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ٢٧
EN[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,
- 28
ٱرْجِعِىٓإِلَىٰرَبِّكِرَاضِيَةًۭمَّرْضِيَّةًۭ٢٨
ENReturn to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],
- 29
فَٱدْخُلِىفِىعِبَـٰدِى٢٩
ENAnd enter among My [righteous] servants
- 30
وَٱدْخُلِىجَنَّتِى٣٠
ENAnd enter My Paradise."
